Joyce Koh is an award-winning journalist based in New York City. She has spent a deccade both in front of and behind the camera, covering national politics, international conflict and breaking news. She is currently an independent journalist, producing for ABC News and working on the inaugural team for the news app, Noosphere.

Joyce was previously staff at The Washington Post for more than 6 years, reporting on nearly every major political story during that time, including the war in Ukraine, the 2020 and 2024 presidential campaigns, the Biden and Trump Administrations, racial justice protests, the coronavirus pandemic, and the deadly national opioid crisis.

She is a recipient of the 2023 IWMF Courage in Journalism award, 2022 Ben Bradlee Courage in Journalism award, and a finalist for the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for public service.

Joyce started her career as a television reporter in Columbia, S.C. covering the State House for WLTX, the CBS affiliate. She also worked at Fox5 in Washington, D.C. and Fox45 Baltimore.

Joyce formerly taught as an adjunct journalism professor at the University of Maryland, her alma mater. She continues to offer mentorship to students and young journalists.

When she’s not working or doomscrolling, Joyce writes, paints, hosts dinner parties with friends and takes long walks through the West Village with her golden retriever, Georgia.
